Sodium Nitrate
Property
Industrial sodium nitrate is white or yellowish crystal, with slight bitter taste,the relative density is 2.261 and fusing point is 306.8°C; It is easily soluble in water, liquid ammonia, slightly soluble in glycerol and ethanol. It has a little hygroscopy, if it contains a little chloride,its hygroscopy has increased greatly. As a kind of strong oxidizer, it can be burning and exploding when mixed with organic substance.
Application
Sodium nitrate may be used as a constituent of fertilizers, pyrotechnicsand smoke bombs, glass and pottery enamels, as a food preservative and asolid rocket propellant.
Notice
1. Stored in the dry and ventilation place and prevent rain and sunlight exposure;
2. Avoid mixing with organic compound or sulphur or reducer during storage and transportation in case of explosion;
3. Handle with care against friction and bounce while loading and pile;
4. The fire caused by sodium nitrate can be put out by lots of water.
